| Travel Ontario Canada: Ontario Travel Guide and Essential Information
Ontario is one of the nation’s largest and most densely populated provinces accounting for about 30% of the country’s total population. Yet with so many people, there are still plenty of wide-open spaces and quite retreats to explore when
travelling Ontario Canada. From a bird’s eye view, Ontario also contains the biggest and greatest lakes in Canada and the world, aptly named, the Great Lakes. These ‘great’ bodies of water occupy the southern most region of the province and partly separate Canada from the US.
As the nation’s capital, Ottawa plays a pivotal role in Canada. Situated in a strategic location bordering
Quebec and Ontario, those who live in Ottawa are used to both French and English conversations taking place around them. Those who attend university at one of 3 schools in the region quickly
learn that they’ll need both languages to excel and master the steadily growing political and business environment.
The biggest city in Ontario is Toronto. What New York is the US, Toronto is to Canada. As the nation’s business and fashion centre, everything from cars to companies move at a rapid pace. One way to momentarily escape Toronto’s busy streets is by ascending the CN Tower, which at over 1800 feet is the world’s tallest tower. From the top you can see for miles and marvel at the lake Ontario’s volumes of water. Another way locals marvel, is at the skill of their professional hockey team, the Toronto Maple Leafs; their professional baseball team, the Toronto Blue Jays; or their professional basketball team; the Toronto Raptors, as they work their magic on the rink, field or court.
Southwest of Toronto is Niagara, a name synonymous with the u-shaped, bellowing body of water powerfully plummeting off a 170-foot cliff into the frothing waters below. Those who want to get up close and personal with the falls can take the “Maid of the Mist” tour boat near the base of the falls. The less adventurous can watch the cascading waters from various vantage points around the falls. If you’re lucky, you may even see a law-breaking daredevil float down the river and shoot over the edge attempting to conquer with the falls’ brutal strength before they pop up in a barrel –the daredevil’s transportation of choice.
Ontario has both urban jungles and relaxing getaways. During the week you can sip a cosmopolitan martini at a bar in the city, and on the weekend savour the famous ice wine at a relaxing retreat in the Niagara region. Ontario travel has something to entice most holidaymakers into becoming return visitors.
