Travel Saskatchewan: Saskatchewan Travel Guide and Essential Information

Saskatchewan travel is characterized by endless land, bountiful lakes and painted skies. As one of the flattest provinces in Canada, Saskatchewan’s main industry is agriculture which produces many of the Nation’s crops. With two main cities and a host of smaller towns, travelling Saskatchewan is both relaxing and fun-filled.

Regina is the province’s capital and the sunniest capital city in all of Canada. Blending nicely with the city’s sunny exposure, Regina has more parkland and open space per person than any other major Canadian city. When travelling throughout the province, Regina is a great place to start due to the wealth of Saskatchewan travel information.

Located 257km (160mi) from Regina is Saskatchewan’s second largest city. Home to intricate waterways and a child-like spirit, Saskatoon teems with vibrancy and youth as the home of the University of Saskatchewan. Another source of life is the Saskatchewan River which winds its way through the city. For this reason, Saskatoon is known as “The City of Bridges” due to the seven structures connecting its river banks.

Other than experiencing the urban lifestyle of Saskatoon and Regina, there are many outdoor activities which take place year-round. Many of the Province’s activities are based around water since Saskatchewan has over 100,000 lakes -some even unnamed.

In the winter, ice-fishing, snowmobiling, snowshoeing and skating are popular past-times, while in the warmer months, lounging by the lake, fishing and other various water sports are popular. Golf, bird watching and hunting are some of the land-based activities both tourists and locals enjoy.

Travelling amid Saskatchewan’s cities, towns, lakes and rivers promises constant amazement and endless enjoyment. Stop by and see why the locals cherish their abundant land and relaxed culture.
